I made the choice a couple of weeks ago to subscribe all my RSS feeds to sendmerss.com, which is a great service which stops me having to check all the website of all the RSS feeds I subscribe to, instead they are conveniently emailed to me when they are released. I now regret this due to the all fabled and proclaimed iPhone launch.
Being a fond PC user/programmer and computer company owner, I stay away from macs for a reason. I am not aesthetically appealed by them, nor do I see their usability being anywhere near as good as a Windows/Linux/Unix PC. So this new iPhone appeals to me as much as all the predecessors... NOT AT ALL!
For the last two weeks everytime I have checked my inbox and RSS feeds I have had nothing but 'iPhone this...' and 'iPhone that...'. At one stage from 4 RSS sites, there were over 29 emails containing the word 'iPhone'.
Looking through the quick summary of my friend's facebook status', there's more 'iPhone this...' and 'iPhone that...'.
I've never taken much notice of Apple and it's products, except to stay away from them, but I do know that this is Apple's second attempt to get the iPhone right. And after all this hype, I decided to visit an Apple store and try one so I could see what all this iPhone spam was proclaiming.

After adding 3 extra monitors to my computer, I found that there was a big lack of multi-monitor wallpapers.
Through all my surfing and exploring, I've compiled a list of some of the best FREE wallpaper sites out there.
I haven't put them in any order. Some of the sites have both free and paid wallpapers.

After many months of trial, error and a tonne of coding, we've finally released the new Australian Quality Solutions Group website. And here you are.
But as with most moves, this one was far from glorious. There were many compatibility problems with some of the major components and plugins that we used on the old site.
So here is a list of some of the new changes and developments that arose from our move from Joomla 1.0.15 (J!) to Joomla 1.5.3 (J!1.5).
- Rewrote and converted the J!Tabs module to a J!1.5 module. This required a complete overhaul and very little of the original code was maintained. This has now been re-released as mod_AQSG-Tabs.
- We found that the built-in Newsflash module is extremly plain and needed some spicing up so we added some extra functions. This has become what is now mod_AQSG-Newsflash.
- After many problems with other 3rd Party Google modules and Adsense modules we decided to create our own that includes Adsense, Sitemaps and Analytics. This has been released as mod_AQSG-Google
- After trialling many different themes and trying to convert the old theme we realised that the standard J!1.5 template was extremly good. However this brought up a problem when our original logo was neither the right colour or format. This prompted a quick redesign of our logo for the release but we will continue to develop the theme and logo further as time goes on.
- We found that converting the existing user database (over 1000 users) was not as straight forward as it appeared. Just doing a quick SQL export and then import did not work at all. We established that if you want to convert old J! users in to J!1.5 users, you need to also bring across the ACL tables and values. This was an effort and a half. Needless to say, after many long hours we got it working.
- Due to the large amount of coding that we've had to do to convert the numerous modules to J!1.5, we've established a JoomlaCode Forge with an SVN repository. Now anyone interested can enjoy the coding of our new modules. This forge can be found at http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/aqsgprojects/
- These extensions have also been advertised on the Joomla Extensions site. These extensions can be found at http://extensions.joomla.org/
As we work on furthering our site we have a few extensions in the mix. Some of these are:
- Help desk Database.
- Advanced Google Search component which utilises the new Google search functions.
- Dynamic Google Sitemaps generator
- A user based RSS sharing system.
- Automatic user notification system for news articles.
So as you explore our newly designed site we welcome all feedback and any suggestions. Please feel free to contact us with any ideas.
